Residential Dumpster Rental across the Jackson metro
Housing across the metro is varied enough that one container does not fit all of it. The older streets in Fondren, Belhaven and the Jackson historic districts want a 10 or a 15 and a driver who takes the tight drives slowly. The subdivisions in Madison, Ridgeland, Gluckstadt and Brandon have room for a 20 but often an HOA with its own covenants. The bigger lots out in Raymond, Terry and Star have space for anything. The first thing we ask on the phone is what your driveway looks like.
Most residential jobs are one of three things: a cleanout (a garage, or a whole house before a move or a sale), a remodel (kitchen, bath, flooring, roof), or weather — a yard full of limbs after a storm, a fence that came down. Each wants a different size and a different talk about weight. The size comparison covers the numbers; the phone call covers your job.
At a glance
What you get with residential dumpster rental
- Flat-rate pricing quoted on the phone — delivery, 7-day rental, pickup and disposal in one number
- Boards under the rails on your driveway when you ask
- Same-day delivery in Jackson and many nearby cities when you call before noon, depending on availability
- 10, 15 and 20 yard containers for homes; 30 for whole-house renovations
- A local dispatcher who knows which cities have rules on containers and haulers
- Extensions, swaps and early pickups by a quick call
What actually fills a residential container
Garage and estate cleanouts lead the way: furniture, boxes, the contents of a shed. Kitchen and bath remodels are next — cabinets, tile, drywall, a tub. Then the outdoor jobs: shingles off a roof, an old deck or fence, a backyard of limbs and brush after a storm, a patio broken up for a new one.
The City of Jackson collects household garbage twice a week, and on the second day it takes up to two bulk items and bagged leaves. It does not collect construction debris — concrete, sand, brick, rock, carpet or wood — or paint, oil and chemicals, and the City Code leaves building and demolition materials for the owner to dispose of (Sec. 106-116). Clinton, Pearl, Brandon, Richland and the county contracts in Madison and Rankin say much the same. Anything bigger, heavier or sooner than city pickup allows is what a residential roll-off is for.
Driveway placement, street rules and HOAs
On your own driveway in Jackson we found no City permit for a roll-off. Boards can go under the rails to protect concrete, and the driver sets the container square with the open end facing the way you want to load. The street is another matter: the City Code makes it unlawful to put containers or any obstruction in a street, alley or sidewalk (Sec. 110-61, fines from $100), and the exception for building work needs written authorization from the City's engineering section or the building inspector, with lights on the outer corners every night and a 90-day limit (Sec. 110-21). We found no published fee for it.
Two more things. Many subdivisions around Madison, Ridgeland and Brandon have HOA covenants, and Madison's own permit process asks for HOA approval where covenants require it — check yours before you book a long rental. And the other cities differ: Ridgeland's code bans containers in streets, Madison's zoning keeps temporary storage units on the driveway, Canton bans obstructing any street or sidewalk. Each town page says what that city's code asks for.

Residential dumpster rental — the Mississippi specifics
Mississippi law says no one may put a lead-acid battery in mixed household waste (Miss. Code Sec. 17-17-429) — the store that sells you a new one has to take the old one back. Waste tires may not be disposed of anywhere that is not authorized for them, and MDEQ says used oil never goes in the garbage. Rubbish sites, where clean debris goes, cannot take household garbage, liquids, paint and chemical containers, engines, whole tires or batteries. Fridges, freezers and window A/C units need the refrigerant recovered before disposal — that is federal law. Keep all of those out of the container or expect them pulled out and charged. One rule of our own: nothing hot goes in the box — no ashes, no coals. The what can and cannot go in guide covers where each banned item goes instead.

Answers
Residential Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Will the dumpster damage my driveway?
Not if it is set properly. Ask for boards under the rails and the driver puts them down. He will tell you before delivery if a surface looks like it needs more than that — fresh concrete, a cracked slab, soft gravel or grass.
Can I put the dumpster on the street instead?
In Jackson, only with written authorization from the City for building work (Sec. 110-21) — otherwise a container in the street is a violation of Sec. 110-61. Ridgeland bans containers in streets, and Canton bans obstructing streets and sidewalks. The driveway is always simpler.
Does my HOA have a say?
Often, yes. Many subdivisions in Madison County and Rankin County have covenants, and some cover containers in driveways. We do not know your HOA's rules — check them before you book, especially for a rental longer than a week.
Can I put old appliances in the dumpster?
Small non-hazardous appliances, yes. Fridges, freezers and A/C units, only if the refrigerant has been professionally recovered — federal law puts that on whoever disposes of them, and rubbish sites will not take them otherwise. The City of Jackson collects appliances on Wednesdays as part of household service. Ask when you book and we will tell you the simplest route.
How long can I keep the container?
7 days as standard. If the job runs on, call before pickup and we extend it at a daily or weekly rate.
Do you serve outside Jackson?
Yes — twenty more cities, towns and communities across Hinds, Madison and Rankin counties, plus Crystal Springs in Copiah County, from Canton in the north to Crystal Springs in the south. Each has its own page. Jackson, Clinton and Brandon license the haulers that work inside their limits — we hold ours — and Canton sends its garbage to its own landfill. We say so plainly on each page.
